La escena final de la excelente Life Of Brian muestra a un grupo de gente crucificada, Brian entre ellos. A pesar de la inminente, lenta y dolorosa muerte que le espera, uno de los condenados le dice que no se aflija, y acto seguido comienza a cantar esta canción.

Esto es la ironía en su máxima y más gloriosa expresión: una canción que, se supone, es una oda a la vida, pero en el contexto de la escena queda como una maravillosa e hilarante expresión de humor negro. Sin ninguna duda, los Pythons eran unos genios de la comedia.

Pero, no obstante la naturaleza sarcástica de la canción, es probablemente la única capaz de lograr lo que en personas determinadas -y, más que nada, en momentos determinados- parece absolutamente imposible: conseguir que nuestras penas queden automáticamente olvidadas por los 3 minutos que dura la canción y todos nos unamos a Eric Idle y a los demás Pythons en el ultra-pegajoso y célebre silbidito del estribillo. Keep smiling, people!
